Biography

Liliya was born in Zaporozhye, an industrial and cultural centre in South-Eastern Ukraine, famous for its great cossac history and later as the heart of the industrialisation plan of the 1920s.

Moved to Lebanon after successfully finishing school and studied Advertising Design and Fine Arts at the Lebanese American University in Byblos. Graduated with distinction and have also received a presidential award for having the highest GPA in the school of Humanities.

Participated in many exhibitions and was running a gallery-workshop for 5 years, was teaching art as well as selling paintings and taking various commissions. Has developed a personal style, mainly painting flowers, which is aimed at attaining realistic representation through using purely primary-complementary colours and new surface forms. Particularly interested in how depth and 3-dimentionality change conventional paintings' forms and create new planes for one same image.

Graduated with an M.A. degree in Digital Media from Sussex University ( www.sussex.ac.uk ). Currently working as a Web producer at Sun Microsystems as well as a freelance artist/web designer.
